At DIYFlexiPlan, we are committed to reducing waste and protecting the environment. That’s why we offer our customers a simple and responsible way to recycle old electrical items.
Recycle Your Old Electricals With Us
If you’re buying a new electrical item from DIYFlexiPlan, you can recycle your old electrical item for free with us on a like-for-like basis (for example, a drill for a drill).
This service is provided in line with UK environmental regulations and is designed to make recycling easy and accessible for our customers.
Why Recycling Matters
Unwanted electrical equipment is the UK’s fastest-growing waste stream.
Many electrical items can be repaired, reused, or recycled — helping to:
- Conserve natural resources
- Reduce environmental damage
- Prevent hazardous substances from entering soil and water
- Protect wildlife and human health
Electrical items that are not recycled often end up in landfill, where harmful materials can leak into the environment.
How Our Take-Back Scheme Works (WEEE)
Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations, UK retailers must offer customers a way to recycle old electrical equipment when purchasing new items.
DIYFlexiPlan provides a free take-back scheme on a like-for-like basis:
- You may return your old electrical item when purchasing a new equivalent product
- Items can be returned in person or sent to us by post (at your cost)

What Is WEEE?
WEEE stands for Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
The WEEE Directive aims to:
- Increase separate collection of electrical waste
- Encourage environmentally responsible recycling
- Reduce landfill waste
As a distributor of electrical equipment, DIYFlexiPlan complies with these regulations and supports responsible recycling.
Waste Batteries & Accumulators
Under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations, customers are encouraged to recycle used portable batteries responsibly.
How to Recycle Batteries
- Do not post batteries to us
- Many supermarkets and retailers provide battery recycling bins
- Local councils, libraries, schools, and recycling centres may also offer collection points
